Following the tragic loss of 57 lives in the Eastern Cape floods, Minister Hlabisa has called for the evacuation of residents to safer locations.

Severe weather hits KZN, with strong winds damaging 80 homes and schools. Four children are injured in the Ugu district, and residents are seeking assistance.

The Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane said that 49 people have died due to the floods caused by the severe weather which began on 7 June 2025.

The South African Weather Service confirmed that seven people were killed during the floods that accompanied the cold weather in the Eastern Cape.

A woman and her colleagues were happy to see snow while on a work site. She was working in Noupoort, an area where the Northern and Eastern Cape meet.

The Eastern Cape experienced heavy snowfall, and the South African Weather Service issued warnings to motorists, implementing travel alerts and road closures.

The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government said that parts of the N2 were temporarily closed due to icy and snowy conditions causing traffic congestion.

South Africans are experiencing a bitterly cold week as the cold front has resulted in cold weather throughout the country. Some parts will experience snow.

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Velenkosini Hlabisa said three provinces will be the most hit by the upcoming weather.
