When Percy Tau left Mamelodi Sundowns for his big European move, many people wrote it off as a poor decision.

Tau enjoyed a glittering spell with the Brazilians, as the team won titles for fun, under the expert guidance of Pitso Mosimane.

Tau opted to join English Premier League side Brighton, but the move seemed to backfire, as he struggled to secure a work permit.

The net result was that Tau failed to start a match for Brighton and was loaned to Union St Gilliose in the Belgian second tier.

However, the Bafana Bafana ace has made the most of the opportunity. Briefly.co.za initially reported that Tau was named Proximus Player of the season last year.

He moved to Belgian giants Club Brugge this term and has been rewarded with his first major European title.

KickOFF.com reported that Brugge were crowned as champions following the early closure of the Pro League.

UEFA provided its federations the opportunity to extend their league seasons until August 3, but the Pro League board opted to end the season.

Brugge were deemed champions based on their hefty 15-point lead.

The domestic cup final between Brugge and Royal Antwerp is still expected to be played at a later date, which will allow Tau the opportunity of doing the double.
