Thembisa Mdoda is one of the cast members of a new Showmax thriller series titled DAM. The series premiered on Showmax on Monday, 22 February.
Thembisa took to Instagram to dedicate her latest gig to her late mother. She passed away just over 10 years ago. The actress described her beloved mom as a "ninja for her kids".
She shared that her mom would stay up in her car to listen to her sister Anele Mdoda's show when she started out on radio. Anele was still doing a late night shift at the time but her mother stayed up to listen to her daughter. Thembisa said her mother used to watch her plays at least five times.
"She called me by my character names for weeks after."
The star expressed that she misses her mom especially on days when she's winning.
"#DAMSeries starts today on Showmax. So proud to be part of this. Thank you mom, you are constantly fighting. I can feel it. Camagu Qengeba. Siyaqhuba."

In other entertainment news, Briefly.co.za reported that Mzwandile Ngubeni has returned to acting after a five-year break. The actor has bagged a role in The River.
Mzwandile portrays the character of a pilot, Elvis Baloyi, in the popular show. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that Mzwandile said about his return to acting:
"I did what every actor should be doing, go back to the floor and take acting lessons. It's like driving if you haven't done it in a while, you need a refresher course."
