Skhumba has come far from being a stand up comedian trying to make it in a difficult industry. He has slowly climbed the ranks and it seems his hard work has paid off.
The media personality has bagged a full time hosting slot alongside Thomas Msengana on KayaFM.
Entertainment blogger Phil Mphela made the announcement on Wednesday, 14 April. He said:
“RADIO: Thomas Msengana returns to Kaya FM. Thomas is back at the station to host the new breakfast show... with Skhumba as co-host. ‘Thomas and Skhumba in the Morning’ will be on air Mondays to Fridays from 06:00 to 09:00. The new show starts May 3rd.”
The information was met with mixed reactions from social media users, many were happy for Thomas while others were wary about Skhumba as they weren't used to having him on the airwaves for that long.
Skhumba did not respond to requests for comment.
Check out some of the reactions:
“Congratulations to Skhumba...he deserves it.”
“What a great combo.”
“Skhumba is ok in small doses... Fridays were good for him... but maybe there will be a good balance with Thomas there! Looking forward to it!”
“I'm happy for Skhumba ey but listening to him everyday vele vele?”
Meanwhile Briefly News previously reported that South African radio and TV presenter Pearl Modiadie and her saucy co-host Thomas Msengana are officially saying goodbye to Metro FM. So many changes are taking place in the world of radio that this does not even come as a major surprise.
Having hosted the lunchtime show “Lunch with Thomas & Pearl” on weekdays from 12pm to 3pm on Metro FM for some time now, it is a sad one for many that the two are calling it quits.
Pearl made the announcement on social media, letting her fans know that this coming Wednesday, 31 March would be their very last show.
“Wednesday the 31st is my last Metro FM broadcast.”
Fans flocked to the comment section is disbelief. They wished Pearl and Thomas farewell and let them know that they were the reason they listened to Metro FM. It is definitely a major loss!
"A whole award winning duo. Ah mara sis Pearl, some shows are meant to last forever and LTP is that show."
"Headlines tomorrow.. "Pearl hints to hanging up her headphones in a tweet.."
All the best to your new life. That means @thomasmsengana will be lonely #LTP my favorite.”
