Chery South Africa has handed the naming rights of its new bakkie to the public, and Mzansi did not hold back.

South African TikToker Dylan Le Roux shared the news on 17 August 2026, sharing that the Chinese carmaker was running a nationwide competition asking South Africans to submit an original name for its upcoming bakkie. The winner would receive R100,000 towards the purchase of a Chery vehicle, along with a possible trip to China in October, subject to confirmation and competition terms.

The bakkie, sold in China as the Rely P3X, is set to be positioned for work, family use and leisure. Chery has not yet confirmed full specifications, pricing, or an exact launch date, with those details expected closer to the vehicle’s local introduction.
