Iconic North West-based Sun City Resort is gearing up to host one of the continent’s most inspiring meetings - the Isago Foundation’s Me Time event, taking place on 12-13 September 2025.

Now in its 11th year, this impactful two-day conference will bring together over 2,000 women, young people, and people with disabilities from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, and Lesotho.

Entitled I Am Every Woman, the conference has become a symbol of empowerment, cooperation, and ingenuity - fueling change for the better across Southern Africa.

A movement born from a vision

In conversation with Briefly News freelance journalist, Mkhululi Chimoio, Isago Foundation Director Ms. Tebogo Modisane explained how the event started.

“The 'Me Time Event' was conceived in a dream to create a safe, empowering platform where women, youth, and people with disabilities could network, learn, and grow,” said Modisane.
“A small meeting became a large annual affair with more than 1,000 people dropping by and forging networks that outlive the event itself.”

Since its modest inception in 2014, 'Me Time' has grown into a vehicle that articulates the issues of real women and youths, far beyond the symbolic trappings of Women’s Month.

“During Women’s Month, Me Time is not just about celebration,” Modisane told Briefly News.

Empowerment beyond the conference halls

One of the highlights of the event is the ‘Me Time Co-operative Financial Institution (CFI)’ - a pathfinder in terms of financial inclusion.

“The CFI is revolutionary. It empowers women and communities to unite, obtain cheap credit, and build wealth in common,” Modisane asserted.
“It’s not banking for banking's sake - it’s about ownership, money management, and developing entry points to economic self-sufficiency.”

This practical approach enables people to carry away tangible resources and connections that break cycles of poverty, unemployment, and marginalisation.

Empowering local communities and the economy

The Isago Foundation takes care to ensure that local communities directly gain from the event.

“We are intentional about doing business with local service providers - right down from caterers, ushers, and decor teams to transport and accommodation partners,” Modisane said.

“This retains money in the community and places people into employment.”

With over 2,000 visitors projected for the year, the economic input to Sun City and the surrounding areas is significant. Guesthouses and hotels in and around the resort are typically booked out, restaurants have high reservations, and small businesses get an opportunity to sell their products and services.

Embracing resilience and unity

This year’s theme, 'I Am Every Woman', carries a powerful message to it. The theme is a reminder that women are complex creatures - leaders, mothers, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and innovators.

“Today’s challenging economic times, women carry multiple burdens, yet they persist to drive change. The theme celebrates resilience, solidarity, and the power of women to overcome adversity together.”

The conference will feature an excellent line-up of speakers, including Dr. Pearl Kupe, Dr. Koketso Ramoupi, Dr. Lungile Dlamini, and Ms. Lerato Moyo, discussing critical topics including entrepreneurship, access to finance, mental health, and leadership.

Part of the weekend’s highlight will be an official live recording by Paul K featuring Minister Spokes, Bucy Radebe, Omega, among other artists, as part of the Foundation's CSI initiative, which includes the donation of sanitary towels to disadvantaged communities.

A legacy of empowerment

Forward, Modisane states, the vision is clear: “Our long-term vision is to have an economy where women, youth, and individuals with disabilities are not only contributors to the economy but are leaders of it. Isago Foundation is building an empowerment legacy that will outlast us.”

As its reach grows, Me Time is still an incubator for entrepreneurs, a mentorship hub, and a co-creation haven - showing that when women and youth build each other up, communities are transformed forever.
