South African radio personality Sol Phenduka weighed in on Kenny Kunene after spotting inconsistencies in his story regarding his alleged involvement with Katiso Molefe. Kunene went to various media houses to give his side of the story after the South African Police Services (SAPS) found him at the home of the murder accused.

The Patriotic Alliance member saw himself on the wrong side of the court of public opinion, with people questioning his credibility. Kaya 959 radio presenter, Sol Phenduka's analysis also did not help cleanse Kunene's image. If anything, it left Mzansi with more questions than answers.

Sol drills Kenny Kunene

In an X post on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, Sol Phenduka reacted to news of the Sandton businessman's alleged shady past. Molefe was allegedly featured in a BBC report of a drug bust in 2003. Molefe also lives in a high-end mansion in Sandhurst, where, according to Sol, the wealthy do not mingle with just anybody.

Sol wondered how Kunene was able to gain access to the property and also take a so-called "young journalist" along with him.

"So this guy has been involved internationally with drugs decades ago, even BBC reports. According to @News24, the man lives in SANDHURST. Bra Kenny Kunene managed to help a young journalist secure an interview with a whole tycoon who lives behind very high walls of SANDHURST and who's already been publicly implicated in other crimes (rare opportunity for any journalist.)
"Kudos to Bra Kenny for helping a young journalist with the opportunity of a lifetime. Them Sandhurst millionaires and billionaires don't open their gates to just anyone, especially people who will draw a spotlight on them and their dealings," he sarcastically said.

"Sol, we all know there was no meeting of the journalist. He is just making up stories to feed the media."

@GiftKho88498193 asked:

"This is not make sure. Sol, when have you ever defended a politician? Reports said a top politician and other top business people were found to be at his place. The media only mentioned the politician, but something heavy was being discussed there. Are you a PA?"

@LivhadiHulie warned:

"Sol, you must be careful with your statement. It might bite you back, Sir. We know what’s happening to Kenny Kunene, and all thanks to General M for the press briefing. I stand for another briefing seems like a lot is coming."
