What to know about Pimville
Pimville is produced by Bakwena Productions, co-owned by popular actor and director Kagiso Modupe. According to SABC2, Pimville is a drama series set in the vibrant heart of Soweto. The drama is a story of love, ambition, and betrayal, a celebration of resilience, heritage, and the unbreakable spirit of a community.
SABC CEO Nomsa Chabeli previously confirmed that a replacement for Muvhango was underway. Pimville was taunted to air immediately after the long-running Tshivenda soapie ended in August 2025 after nearly 30 years on television. While no official communication has been given regarding why it was pushed to 2026, a source who spoke to the Daily Sun disclosed that shooting for the show had been delayed after the SABC requested changes to the script.
"Shooting was supposed to start soon, but the SABC reportedly wanted them to rework the scripts. They also need to fix some things, but it’s set and it’s definitely happening,” the source was quoted as saying.
Kagiso Modupe was called out for allegedly lying

The Losing Lerato star was accused of failing to pay actors their salaries, yet he boasted about paying them royalties.
Some cast members of Pound 4 Pound complained about not receiving their salaries, and they called him out.
