Why Shebeshxt was denied bail again
The post came just a day after the Polokwane High Court formally dismissed Shebeshxt's bail appeal on Wednesday, 5 August 2026. In its ruling, the court found that Lehlogonolo "Shebeshxt" Chauke had failed to satisfy the threshold set out under section 60 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which requires proof of exceptional circumstances, nor the requirements under section 65(4).

The court was unmoved by arguments that being separated from his newborn constituted a special hardship, stating that this was a reality shared by all awaiting-trial inmates across the country.
Chauke faces a serious set of charges, including attempted murder, culpable homicide, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and malicious damage to property.
