South African music has been left in mourning after the sudden death of beloved artist Inkosi Yamagcokama, real name Sicebi Dlamini, whose management confirmed he died in a car accident in KwaZulu-Natal. The news has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with fellow artists and fans expressing deep heartbreak.
The Dlamini family, Ivulandlela Holdings, and Sicelu Collective MGMT issued an official statement on Sunday, 9 August 2026, confirming that Inkosi Yamagcokama passed away following a motor vehicle accident on the John Ross Highway near Richards Bay. He was on his way to perform at the Basadi Let's Dance Music Festival, held at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay, when tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was not alone in the vehicle. Crew member Gumu "Gupta" Mchunu also lost his life in the crash. Of the two surviving crew members, one remains in a critical but stable condition, while the other sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical care. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Fellow stars mourn Sicebi Dlamini
The news of the crash hit the music community hard, with artists taking to social media to process their grief.
Ngizwe Mchunu said in an interview, "This hurts indeed. Death is a thief! Dlamini, I pray your ancestors welcome you."
Gospel artist Jumbo shared a raw and emotional Facebook post: "Kulungile mfanakithi 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭hamba kahle Mfwethu ey bafwethu kubuhungu angilalanga inhliziyo yam ibuhlungu ngo Scebi Inkosiyamagcokama mfoka Dlamini Hayi kulungile 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭 HAMBA KAHLE QHAWE LAKITHI."
Inkabi Records artist Mduduzi Ncube posted a photo of Dlamini alongside a broken heart emoji, meaning no words were necessary.
Fellow Maskandi star Mthandeni, also known as Igcokama Elisha, was pictured next to him a few days ago. He wrote: "Waze wasizwisa ubuhlungu* bafoe 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔"
