Kgolo "Da Guru" Mthembu, the businessman and nightclub owner, has survived a near-fatal car accident just days after his birthday, sharing harrowing images of his wrecked vehicle on social media.
The incident marks another challenging moment in a year filled with personal and professional setbacks for Mthembu, who recently navigated the end of his marriage to reality TV star Annie Mthembu.
Taking to Instagram on 17 August 2026, Kgolo shared a series of photographs and videos showing the extent of the damage to his vehicle, with the car left badly mangled from the collision. The post sent shockwaves through his following, given just how severe the wreck appeared.
Kgolo Mthembu describes the terrifying moment
The incident reportedly took place just days after his birthday, catching him completely off guard.

"Just a few days after my birthday, my weekend turned traumatic. I survived a very serious accident. Everything happened so quickly: a car crashed into me, I lost control, and after that everything became a blur."
Kgolo admitted that he struggled to process the fact that he walked away at all, saying the moment felt fatal.
"In that moment I genuinely felt like I was losing my life, and even now I still don't fully understand how I made it out alive."

Despite the severity of the crash, he confirmed that injuries were minor and that no lives were lost, something he says he holds enormous gratitude for.
"Today I'm just grateful that I'm breathing, I can stand, I can run, I can still be here for my children, my family and the people closest to my heart, and I can still wake up and do the work I love. I'm also grateful that no lives were lost and that, despite how serious the accident was, the injuries were only minor. I don't take any of this lightly."
He closed the emotional post with a scripture from Psalm 91:11:
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."
