South Africans are divided over this week’s weather outlook. Vox Weather Girls posted their weekly forecast on TikTok on 17 August 2026, covering conditions from Monday through to Friday, and the comment section quickly lit up with opinions.

The meteorologist explained that a series of cold fronts would track south of the country all week, meaning little to no rain for most areas. While the west and south coasts would stay cool with temperatures below 20 degrees, the rest of the country would be sitting in warm to hot conditions.

What to expect region by region

The northern parts of South Africa, including Pretoria, Limpopo, North West and parts of Mpumalanga, are set to be the warmest, with an upper-air high-pressure system sitting over Namibia pushing temperatures into the upper 20s for much of the week. The Northern Cape can expect warm to hot conditions by midweek and into Friday.

KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape are in for a bit of a rollercoaster. Cooler air will arrive behind each passing cold front on Tuesday and Thursday, only for temperatures to bounce back warmer by Wednesday and Friday.

@vox_weather_girls also highlighted that rain will remain scarce across the board, with the forecast map showing very little accumulation expected until at least Friday.
