Rapper Mthembeni Ndevu, known as Emtee, is once again behind bars after a Midrand Magistrate's Court revoked his bail on Monday. His latest return to custody stems from WhatsApp messages he allegedly sent to his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, in violation of a protection order she obtained against him in 2023.

According to TshisaLIVE, the protection order specifically bars the Roll Up hitmaker from verbally abusing Chinsamy or targeting her through social media harassment. This is not his first brush with custody over the matter. On 11 June, Emtee was granted R1,000 bail after spending a night at the Midrand police station, also for an alleged breach of the same protection order.

"I am sincerely sorry for the pain, disappointment and emotional strain that our journey has caused you. While no relationship is without its challenges, I acknowledge that there are moments where I could have shown greater understanding, compassion and maturity. For that, I offer my heartfelt apology," he wrote.

Emtee's legal troubles continue

Despite the public remorse, Emtee's actions continued to draw legal consequences. The WhatsApp messages he sent to Chinsamy were cited as the reason his bail was revoked, placing him back in custody less than two months after he was first granted release.
