Izingane Zes'thembu's Season 4 premiere had Mzansi glued to their screens on Thursday, 20 August 2026, and the drama didn't stay on Mzansi Magic for long. It spilled straight onto X, with entertainment commentator Jabu MacDonald leading the charge with a very confused tweet.
MacDonald posted,
"Sbindi has 7 kids? #IzinganeZesthembu", complete with a shocked reaction GIF. His bewilderment was understandable — but also, as Mzansi was quick to point out, completely off the mark.

What Mpumelelo Mseleku actually said
During the premiere, Mpumelelo "Sbindi" Mseleku revealed that he is financially responsible for seven people. That number includes himself, his two wives, and his four children. He shares two children with Vuyokazi Nciweni, one with Tirelo Kale, and one with new wife Amahle Biyela, whose baby's arrival had been the subject of long-running rumours. Sbindi's on-air disclosure effectively confirmed that Biyela had given birth.
MacDonald, however, appeared to have caught only the number seven and ran with it, leading his followers to believe that Sbindi had fathered seven children with multiple women.
The correction came fast and furiously from viewers who had watched every second of the episode.
Here's what Mzansi had to say:
@Zamgp1 was blunt:
"No 4 kids and three adults"
@Le2buhle2 couldn't hold back the laughter:
"Why are you lying 🤣🤣🤣"
@PhiliMaseko broke it down:
"🤣🤣🤣🤣 4 kids. 7 people including himself that he needs to financially support"
@NabelaBilankulu pointed out the obvious:
"No...he is counting even the adults"
@Spotless_Miind did the maths:
"No, he has 4 plus 2 wives and him makes 7"
@DimpleSported kept it simple:
"4 kids 3 adults"
The mix-up gave South African social media exactly the kind of light-hearted moment the premiere needed, with viewers torn between laughing at MacDonald's confusion and breaking down Sbindi's actual family structure for those still puzzling over the numbers.
