Jub Jub Returns to Court Today Over Firearm Charges Linked to E-hailing Driver Incident

Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye is set to face the courts again on Monday, 24 August 2026, as his legal troubles continue. The rapper-turned-TV presenter is dealing with charges of discharging a firearm in a public place, connected to a confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.

The alleged incident dates back to 14 June, and during the subsequent investigation, police reportedly recovered a pellet gun from the Uyajola 9/9 host's home.

What allegedly happened in Edenvale?

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko's earlier statement, an e-hailing driver had just dropped off a female passenger at an Edenvale residence when Jub Jub allegedly approached him. Police claim the presenter accused the driver of being romantically involved with his girlfriend, then allegedly forced the man into his vehicle and would not let him leave.

Initial allegations put to police went further, suggesting the Ndikhokhele rapper had fired a weapon in the direction of the driver, who escaped unharmed and immediately went to the nearest police station to report the incident. The star was originally looking at charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and defeating the ends of justice.

The 45-year-old was later granted R5,000 bail by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.

Jub Jub maintains his innocence

In an earlier report, Briefly News shared Jub Jub's statement regarding his ongoing legal drama involving the e-hailing driver.

Despite the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirming that a pellet gun was seized from his home during investigations, Jub Jub pushed back against the allegations entirely.

He insisted there was no firearm involved in the incident, describing himself as cooperative with the legal process rather than combative. The case now heads back to court as authorities continue to pursue the firearm-related charge against him.
