Zodwa Wabantu Returns to KwaZulu-Natal After 6 Years, Warned to Behave in Nongoma

Zodwa Wabantu is heading back to KwaZulu-Natal for the first time in six years, and she has already been put on notice. The entertainer, who built her career on bold, bare-it-all performances, says she will try her best to keep things under control - but she is not making any firm promises.

The 40-year-old will take the stage at Roka Felaa nightclub in Nongoma for the One Night Two Legends Total Mayhem event on 26 September 2026, where she will share the bill with beloved Maskandi artist Thokozani "Somnandi" Langa. The performance is a landmark moment for Zodwa, marking her first appearance in the province since she became a sangoma and cemented her status as one of South Africa's most talked-about entertainers.

Zodwa Wabantu's warning

The reason for the request to dial things back is rooted in the significance of the location itself. Nongoma is widely regarded as a Zulu royal heartland, and those behind the event were mindful of its cultural weight when they approached Zodwa about the show.

Speaking to DailySUN, Zodwa did not shy away from the conversation.

"People can expect the same Zodwa, but I have been warned not to open my legs wider - we'll see if I can resist," she said, making it clear that her signature energy is not going anywhere entirely.

She added that supporters should come out in numbers, promising an unforgettable night regardless of how much she reins herself in.

Show organiser Menzi Sibiya echoed the same message, confirming with the above-mentioned publication that a conversation did take place about keeping the performance appropriate for the setting.

"Nongoma is a Zulu kingdom village, and we asked Zodwa to behave, but we will not limit her on how to perform."
