King Monada is facing serious legal heat after a Limpopo court ordered the seizure and auction of his company's movable assets. The Nkowankowa Regional Court, situated outside Tzaneen, issued a writ of execution on 29 September, targeting King Monada Music and Projects over an unpaid amount of R111,723.81.
The case was brought by music promoter Eric Thoka through his company, Monate Africa, which alleges the Limpopo-born artist failed to pitch for a performance despite being paid upfront.
King Monada's assets face auction
According to a report by Africa Daily, the writ directs the sheriff in Tzaneen to attach, remove and take possession of movable property registered to King Monada Music and Projects at its address in Mokgoloboto Village, outside Tzaneen. Those assets are to be sold at a public auction to recover the outstanding R111,723.81, which carries interest at an annual rate of 11.25% from 25 July 2025 until the full amount is settled. The order also covers any additional legal costs incurred by Thoka.

The writ follows an earlier court order dated 17 September 2024 in the same matter. Thoka's legal representatives, Mary-Jane Mphahlele Attorneys, wrote to the sheriff on 24 September requesting that the writ be served at the defendant's registered business address.
Promoter claims King Monada left him stranded
According to the court summons published by Africa Daily, Thoka booked the Oska Borra Moreki hitmaker to perform at a music festival in Lebowakgomo township, near Polokwane. The event was reportedly scheduled for New Year's Day in 2023, though the dispute also references a festival in December 2023.
After payment was made, Thoka's team printed and distributed promotional material, pulling in ticket buyers who expected to see Monada headline the show. When the performance slot arrived, the artist was nowhere to be found.
Thoka claims his team managed to reach Monada on the day, with the musician saying he was in Pretoria for a separate engagement but would still make it in time. When they tried again as his slot approached, his phone was reportedly switched off.

The situation left attendees upset, with some reportedly turning to social media to question whether Monada had ever actually been booked. The promoter also alleged that Monada later raised a grievance about being billed as the headline act without receiving what he considered appropriate payment for that status.
Thoka said Monada verbally committed to a refund, but communication eventually dried up. The musician's manager, Albert Makwela, reportedly stepped in to try to broker a resolution, yet the money was never returned.
Speaking to Africa Daily, Thoka confirmed the sheriff had been instructed to proceed with the attachment and sale of the company's assets. He said he had not wanted matters to reach this point but that legal enforcement had become unavoidable. He also noted the outstanding sum was well within Monada's means to settle.
The Lemenemene hitmaker had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
