Kings of Joburg actress Connie Ferguson sparked a debate on social media on Sunday, 11 October 2026, when it was revealed that she wants to evict her tenants

Ferguson recently made headlines when she returned to SABC1's soapie Generations: The Legacy, where she plays the role of Karabo Moroka.

SundayTimesLIVE reported on its X account on Sunday, 11 October 2026, that Ferguson seeks to evict tenants over R549 302 in alleged arrears.

According to the publication, the seasoned actress and businesswoman has gone to the Johannesburg High Court to evict a married couple from her Ruimsig, Johannesburg, property, accusing them of failing to settle the R549 302 in rent and related property charges.

Court papers reveal that the actress's company, Connie Ferguson Trading Enterprise, entered into a sale agreement with Vikar and Trisarnia Maharaj on 28 October 2025, who moved into the property on 1 December 2025, after agreeing to pay R65 000 monthly in occupational rent, excluding municipal and other charges, while awaiting transfer.

The former The Queen actress, however, Ferguson claims the couple fell behind on payments. In May 2026, the married pair reportedly blamed their financial difficulties on fraud committed by their accountant and requested more time to settle the debt.

The Maharajs made payments of R165,000 in May and June 2026, but allegedly still owe R549 302 towards the end of August.

"The nightmare of being a landlord is that someone can occupy your property, stop paying rent, and you still have to fight a lengthy legal battle to get your property back. Who protects landlords from tenants who abuse the system?"
