Online users did not hold back as they gave their first impressions of the house. A post of the mansion received hundreds of likes and comments from netizens.
A Facebook post by HUNT Properties detailed the features of a mansion on sale for R12,900,000. The home was built in 1902 for the then-mayor of Mowbray. The 123-year-old house boasts five bedrooms and four bathrooms, perfectly designed for families. Some of its special features include high ceilings, wooden floors, stained glass doors, as well as seven fireplaces. The home offers mountain views from the balcony, a pool, as well as ample lighting.
The vintage home is located in Mowbray, one of the oldest and most prestigious Cape Town suburbs. The R12 million mansion predates one of the area's cornerstone features, the Mowbray Golf Course, among the oldest in South Africa, built in 1910. Groote Schuur Community Improvement District credits Mowbray as a hub of cultural heritage where the wealthy from Cape Town built their summer homes. In the 1900s, Mowbray became fully suburban. Today, Mowbray is well connected to the city centre while providing an ideal suburban lifestyle for families and young professionals.
