ITHUBA has announced an extraordinary weekend for South African lottery players, with two participants becoming instant multi-millionaires in a rare double jackpot win. The national lottery operator confirmed that Draw 2578, held on Saturday, 20 September 2025, produced not one but two major winners who will never have to worry about money again.

The first winner used modern tech to their advantage, playing through the ABSA banking app with a R50 wager using the Quick Pick selection method. This lucky player hit the main Lotto jackpot, taking home over R18 million with the winning numbers 4, 5, 14, 21, 34 and 52. The second winner took a more traditional approach, purchasing their ticket at a retailer in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, with a R30 manual selection wager that won them the Lotto Plus 2 jackpot of over R8.5 million.

The ITHUBA National Lottery has called on all participants in the Westville area to check their tickets carefully and contact the nearest regional office to claim their prize. Players who bought tickets through banking platforms receive automatic notifications about their winnings, but retail ticket holders need to check their numbers manually.

ITHUBA CEO Charmaine Mabuza congratulated both winners, praising the different ways South Africans choose to play the lottery.
