Self-taught teen violinist Matthew du Toit, who grabbed headlines playing Beethoven's classic Moonlight Sonata First Movement in a gripping performance, moved many when he played his instrument for three homeless people. The humble gesture garnered positive reactions from social media users.

Matthew, who hails from Cape Town, shared the viral video on his Facebook account on 11 March 2026. The outside performance took place on an open field, where he played Viktoria, my Jesus Leef!, an arrangement by John Rodriques.

The high school learner told the online community:

"Today I played my violin for people living on the streets. Many of them carry heavy stories and struggles that the world often walks past without noticing. As I played, I saw tears in some of their eyes. It reminded me that homeless people are not invisible; they are human, with hearts that still feel, hope, and believe."
