A TikTok video posted by user @dr_maremo on 30 August 2026 caught South Africa off guard. The clip showed white South Africans singing in an indigenous language, and it set the comments section alight.

The video, captioned with ZCC hashtags including #zccmyeverything and #sionkelegaelaka, appeared to be filmed inside a church or community hall. A choir performed together, and what made viewers stop scrolling was hearing white members singing confidently in vernacular, a sight many said they had never witnessed before.

The responses captured what many felt watching the video. For some, it was a genuine celebration of South African unity.
