A South African Air Force pilot turned heads at an airshow on 31 August 2026. The crowd watched in disbelief as a Rooivalk AH-2 attack helicopter flew backwards with ease. The pilot made one of the most technically demanding manoeuvres look completely routine.
The clip was shared by TikTok user @moshemosco, who captioned it:
"South African pilots, bruh! Stadium flyovers are fokol [nothing] to them. They'll humble you real quick and make it look effortless."
The aircraft at the centre of the moment is no ordinary machine. The Rooivalk AH-2 is a combat helicopter designed and built in South Africa by Denel. Only 15 units were ever produced, and 12 remain in active service with the South African Air Force, making every public display of the aircraft a rare sight.

SA pilot pulls off the ultimate sky stunt
The pilot's backwards flight drew comparisons to a very South African skill: reverse parking. But instead of squeezing a car into a tight spot, this was a full military helicopter navigating the skies in reverse, without breaking a sweat.
The video spread rapidly, with viewers reacting to the effortless display of skill and the quiet pride it stirred up online.
