Andries' entrepreneurial journey has been fueled by continuous learning, attending national business expos and seminars to sharpen her skills.

Through the support of corporates such as Anglo American Zimele, her commitment to excellence earned her recognition as the second prize winner for Best Medium-Sized Business at the Women in Entrepreneurship Rock Solid Awards (2018).

The Kuruman-born businesswoman runs Junkay Trading, a poultry supply company that sources frozen chicken from wholesalers and repackages it for a diverse range of clients.

“My business is not only about food supply, but also about creating opportunities, building trust, and serving with passion,” says Andries.

Despite operating with a lean team of a few employees, she has built a reputable business with integrity, trust, and respect, underpinned by a simple philosophy: the customer is king. Every delivery stands for more than just chicken; it is a promise of quality, reliability, and service that exceeds expectations.

Looking ahead, the company is determined to expand its capacity and capability to handle larger projects and higher-income activities. The vision is clear: to grow sustainably while maintaining excellence, professionalism, and community focus.

"We look forward to making life easier for our customers, particularly with how we package our chicken. We saw that most of the big retailers only package in 2 kg upwards. This is not suitable for people who may stay alone. So, we introduced different packs like the 1kg that suits those who stay alone,” says Andries.

Located in Kuruman, Acacia Street, with a growing client base, her company is poised to scale its operations and strengthen its role in South Africa’s food supply chain.

Andries' story is one of resilience and inspiration, proving that when passion meets discipline, even the smallest teams can make the greatest impact.
