NORTH WEST - An ANC mayor in North West has drawn fresh criticism after a video emerged showing him stirring a large pot of pap during a door-to-door campaign visit.

The clip, shared on X by Inside Out News, shows Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Executive Mayor Councillor Khumalo Molefe appearing to cook pap, presumably to feed community members, during a campaign visit to Ward 14 in Tontonyane.

A pattern of tone-deaf campaigning

The video quickly ignited anger online, but it did not come out of nowhere. The ANC has faced repeated criticism in recent months over campaigning tactics that many South Africans feel are disconnected from the realities people face on the ground.
