North West Man Arrested After Video of Chilling Murder and Confession Goes Viral

POTCHEFSTROOM, NORTH WEST — The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested a man on 22 August 2025 after he posted a video of himself allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend on 21 August 2025.

The man posted a video after allegedly committing the horrific deed, and it quickly went viral. Hours later, he followed it up with another post where he blamed her for his actions.

The police launched a manhunt after the body of 20-year-old Kgaugelo Marota was found lying on the ground at a tavern in Maubane Village. He had reportedly gone home and stabbed another woman, his new girlfriend, multiple times. He was arrested in the early hours of 22 August 2025. He will appear before the Temba Magistrates Court on 25 August on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Women who were recently killed

A woman from Tsakane in Ekurhuleni was found murdered near a field on 9 July 2025. She had attended a funeral and was last seen at the funeral. Her body was discovered, and she had been raped before she was murdered. One person was arrested.

A man from Limpopo was arrested on 19 August for allegedly killing his 23-year-old pregnant girlfriend. The incident happened in Marble Hall. The police were called to the woman's home, where her lifeless body was found.

KZN man arrested for allegedly killing social worker's girlfriend

In a related article, Briefly News reported that the police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested a man for reportedly killing his social worker girlfriend. The woman's brothers reported her missing after she did not come home.
