Pretoria Hosts South Africa’s Premier Skateboarding Tournament

Pretoria is set to welcome South Africa’s top skaters on 27 September 2025, as the fifth edition of the Street Lines Skate Tournament takes over the iconic Thrashers Skatepark.

Skateboarding fans can expect a full day of high-energy action, showcasing the skill, style, and creativity of the country’s best athletes.

The tournament will be presented by LW Mag and Dragon Energy Drink, in collaboration with Converse Cons, Garmin, Monster Products, Dickies, and Insta360.

Their support ensures the event offers both skaters and spectators an unforgettable experience, with top-tier competition and exciting prizes on offer.

Competition format

Athletes will compete in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions, while emerging skaters will have the chance to prove themselves on a national stage.

Competitors will go head-to-head in the qualifying rounds, where judges will assess use of the park, variation, style, and execution of tricks.

The day will conclude with the Best Trick contest, open to all participants, with the winner taking home a brand-new Insta360 action camera.

Prize money up for grabs

Skaters will compete for a total prize pool of R60,000, adding an extra level of excitement to the event. This year’s tournament promises to reward not just technical skill, but creativity and flair, giving every athlete the chance to shine.

Ryan van der Spuy, organiser of Street Lines, told Briefly News:

Skateboarding in South Africa has grown tremendously over the past few years, and we are proud to provide a platform for the country’s top athletes to showcase their skills. Event details

The tournament will kick off at 9 am and run throughout the day. Spectators can look forward to an electrifying atmosphere filled with daring tricks, intense competition, and a celebration of South Africa’s skateboarding culture.
