Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has offered fans a glimpse into his rehabilitation as he works his way back from a hamstring injury.
Rabada posted a carousel of photos on Instagram on Thursday, 10 September 2026, captioning the post "Between rehab" alongside a cheeky face emoji. The post quickly attracted plenty of attention from cricket fans, with many using the comments to wish the fast bowler a speedy recovery.
Rabada was ruled out of South Africa's ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia, which begins on 24 September. His availability for the Test series that follows remains uncertain.
Kagiso Rabada Injury Update
Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad said on 8 September that the national team's medical staff were continuing to monitor Rabada's rehabilitation closely. Speaking to SABC Sport, Conrad confirmed that Rabada remains unavailable for the ODI series but suggested there was optimism around his progress.
Conrad also stressed the importance of having Rabada available, describing him as a "massive player" for the Proteas.

Proteas Fast Bowler Nandre Burger Also Sidelined
Rabada is not the only Proteas quick dealing with an injury setback ahead of the Australia tour. Conrad also provided an update on Nandre Burger, who is recovering from surgery for a recurring lower-back problem. Burger, who is currently without a Proteas contract, will miss the entire Australia tour. Conrad indicated that the national setup remains interested in his recovery as South Africa builds towards the 2026/27 World Cup

Rabada's road back to the Proteas comes after a difficult period in 2025. He served a one-month suspension from April to May that year after the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport confirmed he had tested positive for cocaine metabolites during the SA20 tournament in January.
He subsequently returned to competitive cricket and has remained an important part of South Africa's plans.
