As he looks to establish himself in the English Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, Percy Tau's lack of game time has grabbed the attention of his fans.

The Bafana Bafana international was not available for their clash against Manchester United and many of his supporters back home are not happy.

Some believe there is unfairness on the part of the 26-year-old and that coach Graham Potter could have used the former Mamelodi Sundowns player against the Red Devils as they lost 2-1.

According to media reports, Tau had to quarantine after flying to participate in the recent FIFA international break where he played for Bafana. Potter said before the match:

"When we weighed it up we knew the negative of the quarantine but at the same time, we have helped him to play for his country.
"He’s a fit lad and we can help him while he is quarantining. We just have to adapt to not having him for ten days."

However, the explanation seems not to be enough for the skillful attacker's fans back home as they expressed their unhappiness on social media.

@Kamo_Marven said:

“Brighton must not win any game before they start playing Percy Tau, judging by the way things are going now they might use this time to drop Percy Tau for good from their first team.”

@Jisto_SA said:

“I think the best decision for Percy Tau right now is to move to another EPL team. I'm thinking maybe one of the newly promoted teams next season because Brighton is not appreciating the talent. This is South Africa's national treasure, the Lion of Judah.”

@Vokzman replied:

“What’s happening to Percy Tau at B&A is the exact same thing that happened to Oupa Manyisa at Sundowns.”

@IamSlickD has a different opinion on the matter:

“I feel like Bafana Bafana have violated Percy Tau's right to play competitive international football. He deserves a better squad.”

In other sports news, Briefly.co.za carried a story on the Bafana Bafana striker that he was delighted with communication between his club Brighton & Hove Albion as he managed to honour the call-up.

Despite not playing regular football in the English Premier League, Tau was the only overseas-based player who returned home for the clash against Ghana and Sudan.

Former coach Molefi Ntseki and his troops were looking to qualify for the 2021 CAF African Cup of Nations tournament but they failed to do so.

The Southern African giants are set to miss the upcoming continental tournament to be held in Cameroon and Ntseki has been fired from his job as a result.
