The result is set to ramp up pressure on ten Hag, who has now won just one game in the opening three of the new 2024/2025 season.

However, speaking after the game, ten Hag insisted that the performance wasn't that bad, backing his team to improve as the season goes on. The Dutch manager said there was some improvement from last year.

"I don't think it’s right to say it feels the same as last year. You can see the xG we didn't concede as many goals. I don't think we are in the same pattern," he said.
"I am not Harry Potter. Players like Manuel Ugarte need time to build their fitness, and this will take weeks," he said, as quoted by Beanyman Sports.

Ten Hag will now use the international window to rethink his strategies ahead of their game against Southampton when Premier League football resumes.
