The coaching staff allowed themselves a proper breather after an exhausting four-Test series against New Zealand, which the world champions won 3-1, before shifting their focus to Optus Stadium.

The group marked their downtime with a quintessentially South African combination: a beach day, a braai, some Afrikaans music, and good company.

Scrum coach Daan Human took command of the braai, while one unnamed member of the backroom staff had loftier ambitions, attempting to master stand-up paddleboarding in true Australian fashion. The ocean had other ideas, though, and he ended up taking an unplanned splash into the water.
