Springbok loosehead prop Retshegofeditswe "Ox" Nché has become one of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa's most recognisable brand ambassadors, with his automotive ties to the Japanese manufacturer rooted in South Africa's landmark 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign.
The 31-year-old, who made his Test debut against Wales in 2018, was gifted a Mitsubishi Triton X-treme double-cab bakkie following the Springboks' victory over New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final in France. The handover ceremony took place in Ballito in November 2023, weeks after South Africa secured a record-breaking fourth world title.

The special-edition bakkie presented to Nché is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 133kW and 430Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi's Super Select II four-wheel-drive system. The vehicle also comes fitted with all-terrain tyres, alloy wheels, roof rails, a sports bar and a tonneau cover, combining rugged capability with practical everyday use.

Nché's relationship with Mitsubishi has since extended well beyond that initial reward, with the prop remaining an active participant in the manufacturer's sponsorship activities.
**Ox Nché Gets Behind the Wheel of the Next-Gen Triton**
In December 2025, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa confirmed that Nché had renewed his partnership with the company. As part of the arrangement, he was allowed to drive the newer-generation Mitsubishi Triton in Durban.
The Next-Gen Triton is equipped with Mitsubishi's 4N16 diesel engine, rated at 135kW and 430Nm of torque, and comes in a double-cab configuration with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The updated model also features the Super Select 4WD-II system, engineered to perform across a range of conditions from urban roads to off-road terrain.
Mitsubishi noted that Nché had accumulated considerable mileage in his original Triton X-treme over two years, and his experience with the newer model formed part of the renewed sponsorship deal rather than a confirmed purchase of an additional vehicle.
The relationship has also drawn in Nché's family, indicating that the partnership carries a personal dimension beyond a straightforward commercial agreement. His confirmed automotive profile centres on the Mitsubishi sponsorship and the Triton range, with the original X-treme remaining the most prominent vehicle linked to his World Cup triumph.
