Recent figures released by Stats SA show that the unemployment rate increased by 1.4% of the second quarter of 2019 to 29% - the highest it has been since 2008. However, a closer look paints an ever bleaker picture.

Senior managers at Eskom are reportedly taking the power utility to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to demand a salary increase of 4.7%. These managers say they received no salary increase.

Newly-discovered leaked emails show that South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, was very much aware of the identities of those who funded his campaign. In the past, Ramaphosa has denied that he knew who the donors were.
