The South African Weather Service has urged residents of KwaZulu-Natal to be safe as a severe thunderstorm is predicted, but people are just happy to have the rain.

The Middelburg area has witnessed tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in recent days, with the South African Weather Service warning that there's more storms to come.

KwaZulu-Natal will be hit by heavy thunderstorms and hail this weekend, but some areas have already experienced the devastating effects of the weather.

A frenzy broke out online as Harrismith residents reported seeing a tornado on 13 November 2024. Weather Guru Garth Sampson assessed the reports to Briefly News.

The heavy rainfall in Polokwane, Limpopo, resulted in flooding which hampered the roads and infrastructure. More rain is expected during the course of the week.
