Meet Refiloe Khobane – the woman whose African-inspired jewellery took Australia by storm
A South African born woman has founded an accessories brand that is making waves in Australia.

Ovazania creates handcrafted, African-inspired jewellery pieces and is being stocked across Australia.
Refiloe Khobane founded the company and is the designer as well.
Born and raised in Katlehong, her designs draw inspiration from Ndebele geometric patterns and traditional Zulu elements as well.
The creative entrepreneur studied film during her youth and made the switch without any formal jewellery design training.
Khobane takes pride in the fact that her creations are stocked across various Australian states.
She also shared, “As a black woman, I feel proud to have been able to create a product that not only celebrates my heritage, but one that also contributes to the modern African aesthetic on a global scale, while still upholding the timeless beauty of our traditional aesthetics.”

Khobane celebrates her South African heritage and draws inspiration from the various cultural groups.
Each piece is named after a family member or friend. She adds the advantage of traditional names is that they’re unique and often very meaningful.
