John Kani praises Sindi Dlathu for SAFTAs win: "I'm proud of you"

- Legendary actor John Kani has praised actress Sindi Dlathu for walking away with the Best Actress award at this year's SAFTAs

- Sindi of The River fame has also showed her appreciation for Kani's recognition of her work

- She has taken to social media to thank Kani for playing a role in honing her craft

Veteran actor and renowned playwright, John Kani, has praised actress Sindi Dlathu for recently bagging the Best Actress award at this year's South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).

Sindi won the award for her role as Lindiwe in Mzansi's hit telenovela, The River.

Kani, who played a role in honing Sindi's acting skills, took to social media to tell Sindi how proud he is of her.

He tweeted:

"I am so proud of you. From Committed Artists at the Market Theatre to Broadway in New York with Sarafina and to Best Actress SAFTA."

Sindi also showed her gratitude for the knowledge and wisdom Kani shared with her during his acting classes.

"This means a lot to me @JohnKani2 thank you for playing a part in honing my craft. The knowledge and the wisdom you imparted in your classes were of great help in my career. You left a footprint in many a performer's life. Enkosi Tata."

Briefly.co.za has recently reported that Sindi took to social media to praise Mzansi's essential services workers that are at the frontline of the Covid-19 fight.

The star expressed her gratitude to the country's nurses, doctors and police officers, among others, for their effort in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Sindi described them as "our champions" and also encouraged them to take care of themselves while serving the country.
