Some mums love cake, others love money and a few love handbags. But most, love houses.
Imagine waking up one day ready to celebrate your birthday only to realise your daughter had the greatest surprise lined up for you.
After working for all their lives and raising us without complaining, most parents hope to retire in a peaceful home.
Facebook user Vero Nyar Adwen made this happen for her mother.
She knew her queen deserved the best so she made sure Christmas was a holiday to remember.
The netizen told her fellow Home Beautiful members of how she spent two years planning and orchestrating the perfect surprise for her mother.
The lady thought of a perfect home design, poured her heart, soul and hard-earned money in building material then finally built a house that cannot be adequately described.
Vero went all out. She got a cake and unveiled the home during her mother's big day.
The marble steps outside the patio, the balcony so well constructed, the colourful bricks laid carefully and the roofing done so professionally made the whole structure look heavenly.
The windows were doused in black tint and when the light hit them, it bounced back.
Outside stood a huge tank of water and a picturesque garden that made the compound look like a tiny resort.
In a similar story done by Briefly.co.za, Violet Evans never lacked anything as a child even though she did not come from a wealthy family.
Her father worked as a security guard and always gave her all she needed.
The teacher decided to return the favour by constructing a wonderful three bedroom house in the village for her dear dad.
