Priyanka Chopra has been promoting her memoir and recently revealed in an interview that she suffered a botched nose job when she was younger.

According to the star, the nose job was intended to remove a polyp (a small growth) from the bridge of her nose to aid in her breathing and alleviate her asthma symptoms.

Chopra said that when she saw the results of the surgery she was taken aback by how different her nose looked.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the star described how the surgery had gone wrong:

"While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed."

Chopra continued:

"When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasn't me any more."

The surgery had a significant effect on the celeb's self-esteem and body image. She described how she felt like a stranger was staring back at her every time she looked in a mirror.

Chopra added that she was also criticised by tabloids and the media for her appearance, which only worsened her confidence.

The actress told Entertainment Tonight that, in the subsequent two decades, she has undergone multiple corrective procedures and has come to accept and embrace her appearance:
