Mfundi Vundla Pays Tribute to Menzi Ngubane, Mzansi Reacts

- Vundla described Ngubane as an inspiration and said that his death 'devastated' him

- However, some social media users have called out the producer for being fake, after he fired Ngubane from Generations years ago

Mfundi Vundla trended on social media on Tuesday morning after he shared a message of condolence to Menzi Ngubane’s family following his passing.

Mfundi Vundla has joined the many Mzansi celebrities who have shared words about the late beloved actor.

Vundla worked with Ngubane for over 10 years on several productions, including the now defunct Generations.

Speaking to TshisaLive, Vundla expresses his shock over the passing. He said that he was shocked and saddened by the loss.

“I am devastated.”

He told the publication that Menzi was one of South Africa’s most talented actors and would leave behind a great legacy.

However, his comments did not go down well with social media users especially given the fact that Vundla fire Ngubane when he purged the cast of Generations following a payments dispute. Twitter user jama_ka_sijadu said:

“Not the same Mfundi Vundla who fired a whole cast rather than pay them their due, surely?”

Blaxtremmis said:

“Someone tell Mfundi Vundla to shut the hell up...He is being sarcastic and it's not funny. He literally played part in almost destroying Menzi's acting career.”

“It's still so wild to me that Mfundi Vundla decided it was easier to fire everyone and end the whole show rather than to just pay the actors.”

Meanwhile Briefly.co.za reported that Sonia Mbele is the latest Mzansi celeb to react to the passing of legendary actor Menzi Ngubane.

Menzi's fans and peers in the entertainment industry have continued to share their heartfelt tributes and messages of condolences to the family and friends of the late veteran actor since his death on Saturday night.

Sonia, who was Menzi's onscreen wife during their days at the now-defunct Generations, took to Twitter late on Sunday, 14 March to share with her fans that she's still processing Menzi's sudden passing. The actress, who played the character of Ntombi in Generations, wrote:

I’ve been quiet because I’ve been processing. I’m still battling! Ours was a love story crafted in television land, and you’ll forever remain Ntombi’s soulmate."
