5 South African Celebrities Who Have Their Own Alcohol Brands

Alcohol seems to be a lucrative industry for many and Mzansi celebs have decided to dig into this gold mine. Several high-profile celebrities have alcohol products attached to their brand. Briefly.co.za put together a list of some of the more well-known celeb-owned liquor products.

1. Bonang: House of BNG

In 2019, Bonang Matheba launched her very own luxury beverage brand with the introduction of the House of BNG and its Brut and Brut Rosé Méthode Cap Classiques (MCCs).

The brand has been used in association with the Presidential Inauguration to Miss SA. In addition, Bonang has become the first black woman to become a member of the Cap Classique Producers Association.

2. Kelly Khumalo: Controversy

Kelly Khumalo’s gin, which was released last year, is said to be a locally-produced premium six-times distilled superior quality gin infused with a perfect balance of eight botanical ingredients that “dare to bring out the untamed side of life”.

3. Khanyi Mbau: I Am Khanyi

In 2018, Khanyi Mbau launched I Am Khanyi gin. According to the media personality, the gin was designed specifically to suit persona, style and personality. The bottle is unique, has a touch of gold and the gin is pink.

4. Boity: BT Signature

Boity made waves when she announced that she has launched her own alcoholic drink. The beverage is positioned as a “premium, superior-tasting sparkling fruit beverage, created for individuals also making their mark on the world.”

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that Bonang Matheba showed that she welcomes a little friendly competition in the industry when she congratulated Boity after she launched her own range of alcohol recently.

The move from Boity came as a complete surprise to many, including Bonang, who took to social media to congratulate Boity and wish her well.

Meanwhile Briefly.co.za previously reported that media personality Boity Thulo has finally launched her alcoholic drink brand and fans reacted to the news on social media. Boity posted that the time had finally arrived for her drink to start selling at a local retailer and she was super excited. She captioned her post:

"WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! I am so honoured to introduce to y’all my new baby! Introducing our new favourite drink. It is about to bring the peach fun to every occasion. And it’s brought to you by yours truly."
