Rapper DMX Dies Aged 50 a Week after Suffering Heart Attack

Rapper DMX has died at the age of 50 a week after suffering a heart attack occasioned by a drug overdose.
The rapper and actor, born Earl Simmons, died at White Plains Hospital in New York on Friday, April 9.
His death was confirmed to People by his family saying DMX passed away peacefully with family present after suffering a catastrophic cardiac arrest.
"We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days," they wrote in a statement.
According to the family, DMX was a warrior who fought till the very end.
He loved his family with all of his heart and they all cherished the times they spent with him.
The family further eulogised him as an artist whose music inspired countless fans across the world and that his iconic legacy will live on forever.
"We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time," said the family.
"Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX," it added.
The family also promised to share information about his memorial service once details were finalized.
White Plains Hospital where DMX was receiving treatment extended its deepest condolences to his family as well as friends and legions of fans who expressed their unwavering support.
Earlier, Briefly News reported that a video of rapper DMX, Earl Simmons, saying a powerful prayer during an interview has resurfaced on social media.
The video that appears to have been recorded in the 90s showed DMX next to a group of ladies during a talk where he decided to pray.
The rapper started by asking God to bear with him as he was learning to pray before going on to give a wonderful prayer thanking God for the lives of everyone in his midst.
