Taxi drivers dress in dresses to support campaign against women abuse

Taxi drivers don't enjoy the best of reputations within South Africa.

The group of employees are often associated with lawlessness, poor driving and obscenities.

However, one group of drivers challenged that perception as they stood together in support of a noble cause.

Mosala Mabeleng revealed how he and a few other drivers braved the streets in dresses and high heels as they attempted to put themselves in women's shoes.

The show of solidarity was inspired by the recent campaigns combating gender-based violence.

Mabeleng shared photos and details of the gesture via Facebook and Briefly.co.za witnessed how the post went viral.

Naledi Seripe hoped the gesture inspired others to act as well:

"Big up to all of you, and I hope this will be a challenge to all the drivers throughout all the Provinces. Spirit."

Palesa Moloi was simply blown away by their actions:

"This is the sweetest gesture against women abuse I've ever seen... nogal from taxi drivers! I'm humbled, dear gentlemen... thank you and we love you."

Monica Rood Warren admired the new looks:

"Maar julle is soooooo mooi! Thank you so much guys!"
