Hearing good news about the virus that wreaked havoc on the world is very rare, which is why celebrating every victory, whether big or small, is very important. Cape Town-based Groote Schuur recently celebrated a heartwarming Covid victory.

Heading online, @IvanJoubert Director of Critical Care at Groote Schuur Hospital, headed online to share the news that the hospital had just discharged their 150th ventilated survivor patient - something definitely worth celebrating.

"We discharged our 150th ventilated survivor today! A milestone sweetened by the fact that it is a medical colleague. Well done to the whole critical care team at Groote Schuur!" he wrote.

Briefly.co.za also reported that Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says that 1.1 million South Africans will receive the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of March. Mkhize said that authorities might have to inoculate more people than the original figure of 40 million.

This has to be done in order to achieve her immunity. Mkhize was addressing the National Council of Provinces on South Africa when he added that more than 32 000 health workers had received the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) jab so far.

The J&J vaccine rollout has been in place since last week with the Pfizer vaccine expected to arrive in the country soon.
