Nearly six months since South Africa lost one of its brightest stars, Yallunder, fans continue to celebrate her life and talent.

The singer sadly passed away on 13 March 2025, and the news of her death sent shockwaves across the country and on several social media platforms.

Known for her angelic voice and collaborations with stars like Sjava and Kelvin Momo, Yallunder, real name Yolanda Nyembezi, rose to fame between 2018 and 2020, with her song covers and her signing with Sjava's record label 1020 Cartel.

Despite only releasing two projects, Yallunder was still able to break through in the music industry and catch many listeners' attention.

After her passing, Twitter (X) user PianoConnectSA paid trubute by remembering the singer through her collaboration with Kelvin Momo for their song Uku Khanya with Umthakathi Kush and Stixx.

What happened to Yallunder?

Yolanda "Yallunder" Nyembezi passed away unexpectedly on 13 March at Johannesburg's Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital.

According to TimesLIVE, the 30-year-old singer had been battling a prolonged illness due to complications related to anaemia and iron deficiency.

Her manager later confirmed the Ndinovalo singer's illness, further revealing that she had made frequent trips to the hospital throughout 2024:

"She was in and out of the hospital the whole of 2024. She got admitted again as she was not in a good state."

Moreover, a statement shared on her Instagram page read that her loved ones, in their grief, applauded the singer for bravely fighting for her life till the very end.
