South African singer Steve Hofmeyr has confirmed the cancellation of the IKOON concert, which was slated to take place in Cape Town.

The South African reported that this was due to the organisers of the event not seeing eye to eye with some of the artists.

Steve's show cancelled

Hofmeyr's tribute concert was scheduled to take place at the DHL Stadium on 26 October 2025. The show was previously postponed, allegedly due to very low ticket sales.

The show was set to be a celebration of Steve Hofmeyr, who turned 61 years old this year. Artists who were slated to perform include Bobby van Jaarsveld, Nadine and Juanita du Plessis, among others.

The initial date was 29 March 2025; however, low ticket sales forced the organisers to push it to October.

The disappointed musician said, “I am sad about IKOON, Cape Town, which has been cancelled by the organiser. However, his reasons are valid. No well-intentioned project can breathe in such a dark cloud of mud-throwing, rumours, envy, and venom.”

Not picking any sides, Steve also applauded the artists for standing up for themselves, “I salute artists who stood up for themselves. They are right.”

It seems as though one of the major reasons the show got canned was due to Kurt Darren's issues with Cool Concerts.
