The thespian also suggested in the statement that Matlala’s wife, Tsakani Matlala, played a key role in a subsequent attempt on her life in October 2023.
In her statement, signed under oath in February, the actress stated that Matlala had previously discussed the violent acts with her.
According to the Jacaranda News X account, the bail application for Matlala took place on Monday, 8 September 2025, in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court.
EWN reported on X on Monday, 8 September 2025, that Matlala has denied paying his co-accused R100 000 from his business account for the alleged hit on Thobejane.
The businessman also shared that he does have $100 000 (R1 755 997) in a Mauritius bank account; however, he does not have a boat as per the police.
