South African musician David Scott, popularly known as The Kiffness, recently revealed that he lost a campaign after defending the late Charlie Kirk on social media.

On Monday, 15 September 2025, the star who once opened up about being robbed twice in America in November 2023, earlier shared a letter he received from a company that gave him a campaign worth R500K, stating that they were withdrawing their deal with him. This happened after he publicly defended the late Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.

"Just lost a R500k campaign because I defended Charlie Kirk. Worth it to be honest."

Netizens react to The Kiffness losing a campaign

Shortly after he shared on social media that he had lost the campaign after he defended the slain American conservative activist, many netizens flooded the comment section with their reactions. Here's what they had to say below:

@ryanam26 said:

"Perhaps now you can focus on the music, rather than the political and religious nonsense. You are adding to the divide. Let people be and just spread positivity; it's a lot more effective."

@djsox wrote:

"Also - just so we understand, is their client's position that assassinating someone with opposing views is ok?"

@WizZifnab commented:

"Why are you hiding their name? They should be willing to stand behind these values they are referring to, right? As those values seem to be disassociated with someone who shows sympathy for someone who was murdered, I think there are a lot of others who would benefit from knowing, as they have conflicting values."

@MemeStudier shared:

"I'm concerned that you were ever sponsored by a brand that looks fondly on the murder of Charlie Kirk. I wish you would tell us the brand so that we could avoid it."

@haveaskippyday tweeted:

"Wow. I’m so sorry. That’s incredibly sad- the state of our world. You know what would be cool? If @KidRock or some other artists could join forces with you- somebody you like, who could back you up."
