The Eastern Cape has been plunged into mourning following the passing of popular DJ and events promoter Volo Da Saint, born Nkokheli Twabu, following a car accident near King Shaka International Airport in Durban on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

The Twabu family confirmed the tragic passing of the 34-year-old events promoter, whose last Facebook posts included supporting Women for Change’s campaign against GBV. In the statement, Volo Da Saint’s family requested understanding and support as they grieve the loss of the wheel spinner.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Nkokheli "Volo" Twabu, who transitioned to glory on the morning of 16 November 2025. We kindly request your understanding and support as we navigate this difficult time. We also appreciate your sensitivity and compassion during this period,” part of the statement read.

The family stated that details regarding Volo Da Saint’s funeral and memorial service arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Details of DJ Volo Da Saint's car crash

According to a Facebook update by the Suburban Control Centre, the accident occurred on the N2 near King Shaka International Airport.

IPSS Search and Rescue Tongaat Volunteers and other emergency services responded.

On arrival, crews found a single vehicle that had been travelling northbound before rolling multiple times and coming to rest on the southbound lane. Two patients with moderate to serious injuries were treated and stabilised by paramedics before being transported to an undisclosed hospital under Advanced Life Support supervision. Sadly, Volo Da Saint sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.

The cause of the crash is not yet known and will be investigated by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

DJ Volo Da Saint's unfulfilled plans revealed following his death

On 4 November 2025, Volo Da Saint announced his traditional marriage to his partner, identified as Madlamini. This was his last Instagram post.

Volo Da Saint was the organiser of the OR Tambo Homage Concert (ORTHC). The 2025 edition of the ORTHC was scheduled for 23 December, and artists such as Dlala Thukzin, Mgilane, 2025 Red Bull Symphonic performer Kelvin Momo, Dumi Mkokstad, Umafikizolo, and Naledi Aphiwe, among others, were billed to perform.

Passenger in Kharishma's car accident dies

Meanwhile, Briefly News previously reported that the Limpopo Artist Movement confirmed that another victim from the car accident, which involved Kharishma, had died.

Kharishma, Vincent Maphopha, and another passenger were involved in a horrific car crash on 31 October 2025, in Limpopo province. South Africans took to social media on Sunday, 16 November 2025, to comfort the family of the second victim.
