After pooling different bet combinations, the 29-year-old predicted his way into the millions.

How did Nyakuni win R1.5 million?

According to a statement by the betting company, Nyakuni registered with SportPesa in 2016 and has reaped his highest-ever win since joining.

The father of two came short of winning the life-changing amount that would have made him the biggest jackpot winner the country has ever seen.

"He correctly predicted 16 out of 17 games in one of the different bet selections he had placed," read the statement.

Nyakuni took advantage of SportPesa, which allows gamers to play other jackpots within the Mega Jackpot to place double combinations.

How does he intend to use the money?

The move helped him win bonuses in the 15, 14, 13 and 12 Mega Jackpots, where he had also placed bets.

According to the company, the 15 jackpot earned him R235k ,the 14 won him R222k , while the 13 added him R138k

With the 12 netting him R61k, the figure accumulated to R1.5 million overall.

"I have been placing combinations for a long time now and I like it because it gives me some sort of safety net to my bets," explained Nyakuni.

An elated Nyakuni smiled during his unveiling in Nairobi's Central Business District, immersing himself in song and dance to celebrate his win.

He was unveiled amongst two other winners becoming the latest millionaire to be minted from the betting company. He indicated that the money would be used to expand his business and undertake some developments at home.

Meanwhile, Briefly News reported that a Nigerian man went from being richer to losing everything to sports betting after making a hasty decision. In a video, the heartbroken youth lay in regret on a bed while a friend consoling him recorded him.

Mixed reactions trailed the video as many people laughed at the young man, saying he was too greedy.
