Why Chinese children excel
According to a survey result that was posted on Fortune, Chinese students are officially the smartest in the world. The OECD study of 600,000 students in 79 countries found that Chinese students far outperformed peers in every other country in reading, maths, and science ability. Even the 10% most disadvantaged Chinese students had better reading skills than the OECD average.
The study tested four Chinese provinces, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, and found they excelled in science and mathematics even though household income was well below other countries' averages. This academic excellence from a young age could explain why the little boy in the video was able to master Zulu pronunciation so effortlessly.
